Get Sweet on Cupcake Crazy!

Get Sweet on Cupcake Crazy!

So, I attempted to get all Pinterest-y for Thanksgiving with cute little cupcakes that looked like turkeys….but they ended up looking like sick birds and nothing like the picture! haha! Definitely not cute enough to serve at Thanksgiving dinner (don’t worry though… I definitely still ate them after everyone left!)

But the moral of the story here is that I wished I would have saved the time/hassle/mess and just called my friends at Cupcake Crazy. It’s a mom and her two daughters who own it and they’re all local gals. We’ve used them before!

Over The Rhine Location

Over The Rhine Location

3 Sweet Girls Cakery in Over the Rhine

In addition to our first and largest location near Kenwood, we have a second location in Over-the-Rhine that opened in July of 2015. If you see a beautiful ArtWorks mural that includes cake, donuts, pie & popsicles, you’ve found us! We happen to be located right behind this perfectly fitting design and would love for you to stop by to check out what we have to offer.

What do we offer in OTR?

We bake and decorate all of our desserts in the kitchen of our original location at 7458 Montgomery Road each morning and then bring all of the goodness down to our store front in Over the Rhine (OTR). We have a variety of cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, chocolate dipped pretzels and oreos, and gourmet popcorn available for customers to walk in and purchase each day. Custom orders can also be placed in advance and picked up at the OTR location! We love creating custom orders for any occasion from birthdays and holidays to corporate orders. From logo cookies and cupcakes to staff party treats, we create cake, cookie and cupcake designs for the many businesses nearby including Kroger, Proctor and Gamble  and GE. Delivery in the downtown and OTR areas is also available, making it easy for you to get desserts delivered right to you for staff birthdays, client meetings or just an after lunch pick-me-up. We are open located at 29 East 12thStreet and are open Tuesday through Saturday from 12-5pm in OTR.

We love being a part of the OTR community and are in awe of the incredible growth that has happened and continues to happen in the area around us!

Here are a few of the awesome things we encourage you to check out around us:

Weddings Venues

Over the Rhine has so many beautiful and unique wedding venues, where we deliver and setup beautiful wedding cakes, cupcake displays and dessert tables. You can check out photos of weddings that we have done in the past on our wedding pageThe Trancept, Bell Event Centre, Music HallRhinegeist Brewery, and the Monastery are just a few of the venues we work with to make couple’s wedding dessert dreams come alive in and nearby OTR. We schedule wedding tastings at our Montgomery Road location, but you are always welcome to stop into the OTR location to purchase treats to sample and begin to get more information!

There are so many community events that bring people from all over into the OTR area. City Flea and Second Sunday on Main  are the perfect place to checkout many local vendors for delicious food, crafts, clothing and more. There is constantly something fun going on in OTR so be sure and explore this area!

Things to Do

We love being involved with Riverside Food Tours and highly suggest checking out one of their tours! They stop by with tour groups to enjoy cake pops and other treats. Food tours are the perfect way to get a taste of OTR and visit places you may have never been.

We frequently see Pedal Wagon’s pedaling by our store all week long and they’re a unique way to tour the area. If you’re feeling active, why not try out the Red Bikes in OTR?! Then you will really deserve a sweet treat!

Restaurants & Bars

Taste of Belgium is right down the street on Vine. We also enjoy stopping by Revel Urban Winery for a bite to eat and glass of wine. At Gomez Salsa‘s walk-up window you can order their infamous (and delicious!) “turtle” for lunch or swing by Rhinehaus for a drink while you wait for your order. These are just a couple of our favorite places to enjoy nearby!

Over the Rhine is a very special community that showcases incredible arts, food and drinks, entertainment & of course, desserts, that you won’t want to miss! Don’t forget to give us a call at 513-421-0100 or stop into our store front at 29 East 12thStreet Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12-5pm!

Oh my goodness! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the cake! It was more beautiful than I expected and was such a highlight of the Grand Opening!  We received so many compliments from the attendees including the chambers of commerce that attended. The cake pops were adorable too! Both were perfection!!!! I will most definitely be ordering in the future for any special occasions.

Thank you to you & your staff for all your efforts and hard work in making a lovely birthday cake for my twin baby girls first birthday!!  We had 30 guests and everyone said it looked very nice & tasted delicious!! The Red Velvet first tier finished as soon as we cut it & I did not even get a chance to have a taste. But, I did eat the vanilla cake & it tasted really nice!

4 Wedding Dessert Trends for 2018

4 Wedding Dessert Trends for 2018

We LOVE Weddings!  Helping people celebrate their marriages is a big part of what we do at 3 Sweet Girls Cakery.  And we know that it can be tough planning all the details of showers, rehearsal dinners, and receptions, because it’s not something you do all that often.  That’s why we want to share with you 4 Wedding Dessert Trends we see for 2018.

These are things we notice as the orders come in week after week.  Now you can take this information and plan the coolest wedding events for yourself, your family, and your friends.

When couples come in for tastings these days we can usually predict what kind of cake they are going to want.  The biggest trend we see with wedding cakes is that brides are wanting simple yet personalized designs.

Brides are looking for fresh new ways to highlight their personal styles and colors.  They love cakes with textured buttercream that are finished off  with fresh flowers.  Naked Cakes are also very popular, especially when they are decorated with fresh flowers and succulents for a unique, organic look.

Another trend that’s becoming increasingly popular with couples these days is bite-sized treatsas a part of their display.  The most popular things we see are cookies, cake pops, cupcakes, chocolate dipped pretzels and oreos as well as gourmet brownies.  Wedding guests love to see how these edible works of art reflect the personality of the bride and groom.

They also love the option of picking up a small treat, then going off to mingle and dance before coming back for something else.  Cookies offer us the ability to use a variety of sizes.  We’ll feature lots of detail including monograms on larger items and then include assortments of smaller less detailed ones combined on the trays.

Cake Pops are extremely popular and mostly displayed on platters so that they are easy to pick up.  These are a great treat for children who need something to do during all of the “Grown-Up Stuff.”  We love to include the couple’s colors and styles in our cake pops and brides love the option 0f including gold, silver and or rose gold on their tables.

Cupcakes will always be in high demand as options on a dessert table.  They add a whimsical element of fun.  They are smaller than a slice of cake.  And they are items that guests can choose and serve to themselves.  They also look fabulous when displayed on a tower with a cutting cake.

The most popular flavor trends we see these days are people choosing Vanilla with Raspberry Filling, Death by Chocolate, Wedding Cake, Birthday Cake, Red Velvet, Oreo, Lemon Blueberry and White Chocolate Raspberry.  We offer a large variety of flavors allowing couples to serve their guests by shooting the works or just keeping it simple.  You may not think of birthday cake as a wedding flavor but it is popular with everyone from 1 to 100!  It is fun and festive.

Groom’s Cakes are becoming more and more popular! The groom’s cake has a rich tradition in wedding history, particularly in the American South. Historically, a groom’s cake was often a chocolatey, decadent treat that would be served alongside the wedding cake at the reception.  The single women at the wedding would each take home a slice of the groom’s cake and sleep with it under their pillows. Tradition held that they would then have sweet dreams of the man they would someday marry.

These increasingly requested cakes offer couples a chance to personalize the wedding or rehearsal by getting to know the groom in a fun way.  A groom’s cake is created to feature the groom’s interests and/or passions.  It may be shaped like his favorite car, geared towards his favorite sport, resemble his alcoholic beverage of choice, or be a combination of things.

Many of my brides also like to surprise their fiancé with a groom’s cake rather than tell him about it ahead of time. It’s their way of saying, “Thank you for putting up with the insanity of wedding planning.” It’s also an intimate and loving way to give him a moment to shine at the wedding.

Regardless of how it is presented, shared, or used in the celebration, the groom’s cake can be a quirky, fun, and delicious way to make your wedding unique and memorable.  Of course, it’s an added expense, but if you have a little leeway in your budget, it might be a nice way to show your groom (and your guests) just how much you love him!

Groom’s cakes can be made from simple to complex so share your ideas with us and we will work to create a unique cake within your budget.

Hopefully you can use these ideas to plan the wedding of your dreams.  If you would like to learn more about our wedding options, please call us at 513-984-1100 or visit our wedding page.  We would love to get to know you and help you create a personalized and unique wedding display!
