We are so fortunate to have the best brides! They seem to love cupcakes and weddings just as much as we do! (not to mention cakes, cake pops and cake push ups!)
At the beginning of the year I reached out to several of our brides and asked them if they would mind sending us some pictures of their events so that we could see how it all ended up! We are always there setting up before all the decorations are finished, often way before guests arrive and we can’t help but to wonder what it looks like at the very end! Plus, we never get to see them cut that first slice of cake for themselves!
When Jessica shared her pictures with me, I was thrilled. She held her wedding at The Madison Event Center. The cupcake tower looked great with all the various flavors they had chosen. Isn’t Jessica gorgeous in her gown? We were thrilled to hear that Jessica and her guests loved everything!
And then, there was this photo…..
It made me giggle to myself and I couldn’t wait to write a blog post about a photo bomb!! We all have a picture of two like this from a guy (it is usually a guy right?!) that we may or may not know. Weddings are no different! Congratulations to Jessica and thanks to Penny Hodge Photography for the beautiful images. It looks like you had a wonderful wedding and we wish many years of as much fun!
Do you have any photo bombs from your wedding?
If you are thinking about having cupcakes and a cupcake tower at your wedding, please be sure to check out our page. You can contact Lisa directly at 513-984-1100 to schedule your tasting. We would love to be part of your special day!
Gender reveal cakes are so much fun and quite the rage these days! Just announcing on facebook is no longer the ‘thing’ to do! – Invite your friends and share the surprise and fun with them!
A few years ago, when Dora, owner of Viva Bella Events, asked us to make some cake pops for the gender reveal of her second daughter, it was a relatively new concept and unchartered territory. Now, we make cakes, cake pops and cupcakes that can all reveal the gender of the new baby. The key is to keep the outside relatively simple so that it doesn’t give the surprise away!
And how much fun is to be surprised by what sex your new baby will be? — We love the face on Heidi as she pull out the pink cake to find out her second was going to be a girl!
We are excited to be featured on Fox19 at 9:40AM this morning to talk about gender reveal and this latest trend in how you may be sharing the good news with family and friends. Be sure to tune in. You can also find more information on our website or call and inquire anytime with Lisa at 513-984-1100.
What other creative ways did you tell your friends and family about the sex of your baby?
We are so excited to be participating in the Art of Food Event on February 28, 2014 in Covington, Kentucky at the Carnegie Event Center. We have attended The Art of Food event for the last three years and always loved it as attendees. It gets bigger and better each year and we can’t wait to be a part this year for the first time.
The Art of Food is a two week art exhibit at the Carnegie Event Center in Covington, Ky, but we would love for you to join us at the opening night celebration on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 6:00PM. It combines art with food so you can sample bites from some of the most wonderful local chefs. All of the art is food inspired, so plenty to view and keep you interested! This would make a fabulous date night or girl’s night out.
We hope that you will join us there.
Tickets are $35 for Members and $50 for non-members. I would suggest you purchase your tickets early as they do sell out quickly!
We had so much fun last year at the Lady in Red Event and we are sponsoring a giveway of 2 tickets to one lucky follower! .
The Lady in Red event is hosted by Cincy Chic and of all the events that we participated with Cincy Chic last year, this was by far this is one of our favorites! This event takes place at Macy’s Downtown at Fountain Square and is a wonderful girl’s night out! The crowd was great and although three hours long, it seemed to pass way too quickly. Everyone wears red to the event, which a great contrast to the dreary days of February and our favorite part? It’s a fundraiser for the American Heart Association.
$15 VIP (only 200 available) includes runway seat and three drink tickets. $10 general admission includes two drink tickets. All attendees receive a swag bag, complimentary light bites from The Capital Grille, and a runway fashion show presented by Macy’s and SOTO (Salon on the Ohio). Plus, enjoy music, a 20% store-wide* Macy’s discount, fun photo booth and spectacular silent auction! 100% of proceeds benefit the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign!
We do hope that you will join us for this amazing event! You can purchase tickets here, but we are giving away 2 Tickets to one randomly selected person on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 4:00 PM. All you have to do is comment below with your favorite “red” accessory! You must be able to pick your tickets up at our Montgomery location prior to the event on Friday, February 7, 2014.
After the holidays are over, January brings new opportunities for creating fun cake pop shapes for Valentine’s Day.
At Cupcake Crazy, we are a small, locally owned business. Lisa Ebbert owns the business with her daughters Lauren and Kristen. Everyone plays a very significant part of the business and creating these great Cake Pops falls under Kristen’s responsibility! We just love what she does.
For Valentine’s this year, we have roses, hearts and teddy bears. You can be certain there will always be a selection in store daily. You can also visit our online store and have items shipped nationwide.
What other Valentine shapes would you like to see in our cake pops?
If you are looking for a creative way of saying “I love you”, rather than sending roses, consider sending a Cupcake Crazy Valentine’s Day Cake Pop Arrangement!
Over 119 million stems of roses are sent every Valentine’s Day (because I trust everything I read on the internet). Although we don’t disagree with the rose trend, there is something to be said for adding some creativity and flavor! If you aren’t familiar with what a cake pop may be, you should see our webpage that describes them first!
Then you can really start to think about how you want to send your Valentine’s Day Cake Pop Arrangement. We do customize some colors and flavors, but you can’t really go wrong with our signature chocolate cake pop and a personal favorite of mine is the raspberry sugar cookie! Above pictured on the left is a small arrangement in a red tin, it includes (4) regular cake pops decorated in red and pink and (2) large hearts. The red chevron box (oh yea, have you heard of our obsession with chevron?) includes a much larger assortment of cake pops and hearts. On the bottom right you can see our Hugs & Kisses arrangement. All are available in-store daily Monday – Saturday. It’s always best to place orders in advance by calling 513-984-1100 just to ensure that the selection you want is available!
Are you a traditionalist and still send flowers for Valentine’s Day or do you look for something a little different and unique? Let us know in the comments and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Our Montgomery road store has a wonderful and bright room that is perfect for a cupcake making birthday party!
Over the summer we celebrated our 1st Anniversary and to celebrate we gave away a birthday party to one of our loyal customers. In December, Baylie brought her closest friends and celebrated her 10th birthday with us! As part of our giveaway package, Brenda Pottinger with Pottinger Photography gave her time and talent to capture these great photographs and How Cute is That Party? made customized birthday banners cupcake wrappers to put the final detail on an amazing birthday!
So many thanks to Baylie and her mom for being Cupcake Crazy!
If you haven’t experienced one of our Cupcake Crazy Birthday Party, this offered a great example to show you what happens. You can see Lauren and Sarah helping the girls to both mix their batter and get it poured into cupcake pans. Everyone helps and Baylie is rocking the birthday cake headband!
While the batter is baking in the oven, the party host leads the party girls in a craft that includes both making faux cupcakes with tissues, crepe paper and bling. There are lots of giggles and deep thoughts, but they all like to have a ‘project’ that they can take home to share with mom and dad.
Once the cupcakes come out of the oven, the real fun begins. Everyone gets to decorate two cupcakes. One to eat and one to take home. Lauren and Sarah are helping to pipe icing onto the cupcakes and they can pick their favorite toppings.
Do you have a favorite birthday party that you have shared with your child and do you find that indoor parties during the winter months are harder to find activities? If you would like pricing and information, please see our webpage that describes it in detail.
P.S. If you would like to see more photos from Baylie’s 10th Birthday, check out Brenda’s blog!
Our online store ships for Valentine’s Day and you don’t want to procrastinate too long to get your gifts to loved ones on time!
A few little fun facts that we learned from internet (so I hope they are true!) More than 145 million greeting cards are purchased in the US for Valentine’s Day with 85% being purchased by women! More interesting is that 50% of those greeting cards are purchased only 6 days in advance of the February holiday.
We notice this in the store as well. It is very quiet in the weeks leading up to the February holiday and the WHAM! everyone remembers that they need to pick up a last minute gift.
If you need to ship outside of the greater Cincinnati, please take a look at our Online Store for great gifts that ship and will definitely be an unexpected and unique gift for those that you love the most, but you can’t wait until the last minute!!!
Are you a Valentine’s Day procrastinator?
Chevron Patterns are all the rage! You can see them any where these days from window treatments to our favorite cookies and cakes!
In September of this year, my dear husband and I had our first baby. I went NUTS leading up to the birth of this perfect little girl in search of the perfect baby shower theme, nursery décor and pink ruffles. It became very clear to me that my husband and I had a major disconnect in one very important area. We didn’t share the same love for chevron patterns.
Of course, I love them. Being the engineer that he is, he thought I was talking about the only Chevron that he knew. (you know the corner gas station where you have to pump your own gas!) Clearly this was going to be an issue.
It started on Etsy (doesn’t it always!) and we didn’t disagree on how cute this was and I knew that I wanted little feet to go in these! I can honestly say that all good ideas, as well as mistakes, happen after too much time on pinterest. It wasn’t long before he had come around on the chevron idea and now can even grab the “chevron blanket” from the cabinet when asked. It is amazing to see how many ways our life has changed in the last few months.
Chevron patterns are even popping up in weddings everywhere. For some lovely inspiration, we always turn to Viva Bella Events and they have a pinterest board that is swoon worthy!
If you too are in love with the chevron patterns and planning your next birthday party, wedding or even baby shower let us help!
We are so excited to announce that we will be participating in Sweet Victory on February 6, 2014.
Sweet Victory is similar to other events that we love participating in. You know.. the kind where all the great and fun bakeries come together and offer tastings and compete for bragging rights! It is sponsored by our good friends at Cincinnati Magazine.
Here are a few photos from last year. Lisa, Lauren and Kristen all made the event and the crowd was amazing.
If you are looking for a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day a little early or maybe you are in the decision making for a wedding cake, head down to Cooper Creek in Blue Ash and join us. It is from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and if I had to make a suggestion, stop by one of my favorite restaurants, Parkers Blue Ash for dinner and then slowly stroll Sweet Victory for dessert!
Over the next few weeks, we will give away a few free tickets on our facebook page.
Do you have a favorite “sweet” event? We are definitely looking forward to Sweet Victory and hope to see you there!
Wedding planning season is underway. Did you know that Christmas and New Year’s are among the most popular days for couples to get engage? That fact makes January and February prime season for brides to be making big decisions for their upcoming events.
I remember vividly being so excited that we were engaged. I hit the ground running for our short engagement to find the perfect venue, dress, and cake! It was during my engagement that I met Lisa, owner of Cupcake Crazy. She was wonderful to work with, but most importantly she allowed me to create something fun and unique with cupcakes, cake pops, cakes, whoopee pies, and cake push ups. My guests loved the display that we created and it felt very special and individualized to Steve and myself.
Fast forward a few years and Cupcake Crazy is now a full service bakery with a store-front and open Monday -Friday. (7458 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236). I have the honor of watching and helping Lisa grow her business everyday.
The planning process can be daunting, but I do have a few tips to help you. You may find some information on a The Perfect Wedding Guide’s web page to be incredibly useful! They have tons of great information and list many of the local vendors with images and also reviews. Always use a vendor that comes with great reviews!
You may also enjoy attending an upcoming bridal show! They give you lots and lots of information. Some of the largest happen during January and February (including this weekend!) so you may want to look into those sooner rather than later.
You can also find more information specific to Cupcake Crazy in Cincinnati on their website. When you are ready, call us to schedule a tasting and to talk one on one to Lisa about your upcoming wedding date. (513-984-1100) Cake is one of the most fun decisions that you are going to make! Enjoy each moment of the planning process.
Every one is making new year’s resolutions. We thought we would take up Yoga in the new year…. Yoga Cookies that is!
Since we started making and decorating cute cookies, we just can’t get cookie cutters off of our mind. They come in so many cute shapes and that leaves us feeling artistic and creative. (well, it leaves Lauren feeling artist and creative – They just make me hungry!) Lisa is a frequent visitor to this great website for cookie cutters and they are always posting new and interesting ideas. If you have thought of it, it is likely that there is a cookie cutter to match it!
Our simple, but delicious butter cookies come in dozens of shapes and sizes. They are decorated by hand and with just enough of our homemade royal icing. Each cookie can be coordinated to any party theme. In the past we have been known to decorate specialty cookies for baby showers, used them as wedding favors and birthday party favors, or even corporate logos to give to clients.
You can resolve to take up more Yoga this year. More downward dog and warrior pose is encouraged and your secret is safe with us if you choose to do that all with AMAZING royal icing and a butter cookie.
